WOMEN'S HEALTH

Women's Health Program teaches women to take care of their health providing dental and hygiene supplies for their families as well. They learn water purification and nutritious food processing using local provisions. Medical professionals have been contracted for regular program participation. Health awareness is an important part of trainee education, especially regarding HIV/AIDS, polio and malaria. Funding is urgently needed for a planned Health Post where villagers will have access to First Aid and vital health information.

CARPENTRY AND WOODWORK

Due to lack of resources, only 15 boys are enrolled in the carpentry/woodwork and upholstery program. Some equipment and carpentry tools have been purchased, but funding is badly needed to allow for sixty carpentry/woodwork and upholster students.

SEWING AND TAILORING

Sewing and tailoring is another popular program and is offered regardless of gender. Illiteracy creates challenges in the acquisition of these particular skills, and slows the training process, however, needlework abilities serve as a good starting base for the trainees.

Sewing/tailoring training is expensive in urban areas. The Ad Gentes skills training program is offered free of charge to those willing to learn. More than 200 people want to acquire this skill. Unfortunately, funds are very limited and sewing machines are few. Can you donate toward the purchase of more machines and accessories?

EVERY MACHINE WILL TRAIN MANY !

WOMENS'S LITERACY

Funding has provided books, writing materials, blackboards, chalk and other visual aids to facilitate learning. The trainees have NEVER had formal school. The program started with fifteen women, but with additional funding, enrollment became eighty-six.

IF YOU CAN HELP MORE WILL LEARN!

CRAFTS AND BEADWORK

Training in crafts and beadwork is the most popular program for the village because it is practical and produces instant economic benefits. Villagers learn to use beads and thread to design and produce women's handbags, wallets, cell phone pockets, ear rings and necklaces.

It takes about three months to acquire the skills for the trainees to become self-employed. The program can only accommodate 46 women. When the new workshop building is finished, it will be possible to enroll 150 women in this program
