New Mission In Burkina Faso, West Africa
Ad Gentes Missionaries opened a new mission in the country of Burkina Faso in West Africa in October 2014.
On the invitation of the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Koudougou, Most Reverend Joachim Ouedraogo, the founder of Ad Gentes Missionary Society, Rev. Fr. Vitalis Anyanike and the Resource Developer Sonja Puszewski traveled to Burkina Faso to facilitate the establishment of the Mission in that diocese.
In the week of October 12, 2014, Ad Gentes Missionary Society acquired two buildings for the mission house, appropriately named Villa Ad Gentes that would serve as community house for Ad Gentes missionaries and also the mission headquarters in Burkina Faso.
Two pioneering Ad Gentes Missionaries, Brother Basil Mary and Brother Dominic arrived Burkina Faso early November 2014. On November 12, 2014, Bishop Joachim Ouedraogo dedicated the Mission House in a special ceremony.
The Bishop also appointed Rev. Father Louis, as the spiritual director of the Ad Gentes Missionary Brothers in Burkina Faso.
Father Vitalis and Mother Superior Lucia Benedict of the Ad Gentes Missionary Sisters confirm that more brothers and reverend sisters will soon be joining the pioneering missionaries in Burkina Faso.
